Contempliamo la Santa Famiglia e, nelle parole del vangelo di questa festività, consideriamo Gesù, Maria e Giuseppe.
Subito dopo l’adorazione dei Magi, Matteo narra nel suo Vangelo la fuga in Egitto, la strage degli innocenti e il ritorno dall’Egitto: tre episodi collegati alla storia della Santa Famiglia e presentati nel Vangelo come altrettanti fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies.

In those days a decree from Caesar Augustus that a census should be of the whole earth. This was the first enrollment made when Quirinius was governor of Syria. All went to be census, each in their own city.
Even Joseph, the Galilee, the city of Nazareth, he went up to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he belonged to the house and family of David. Census was to be with Mary, his betrothed, who was pregnant.
