BENEDIZIONE DELLE CANDELE E PROCESSIONE
Il Signore nostro Dio verrà con potenza,
e illuminerà il suo popolo. Alleluia.
Con quel rito il Signore si assoggettava the requirements of the old law, but in reality was to meet his people, who waited in faith.
Guided by the Holy Spirit, the holy elders came to the temple Simeon and Anna, illuminated by the same Spirit recognized the Lord and full of joy testified.
We also gathered here by the Holy Spirit we encounter with Christ in God's house, where we will find and recognize the breaking of bread, waiting for him to come and manifest himself in his glory.
After the exhortation, the priest blesses the candles, saying prayers with folded hands as follows:
Please.
O God, the source and the source of all light,
today have revealed to the holy old Simeon
the Christ, the true light of all nations,
bless + these candles and listen to the prayers of your people,
who comes to you with these bright signs
and hymns of praise;
guide him by doing good ,
order to reach the light that has no end.
through Christ our Lord.
Or
Please.
O God, creator and giver of truth and light, we see
your faithful gathered in your temple
and illuminated by the light of these candles, pour into our hearts
the splendor of your holiness,
because we come to happily
fullness of your glory.
through Christ our Lord.
Colletta
Dio onnipotente ed eterno,
guarda i tuoi fedeli riuniti
pienamente rinnovati nello spirito.
Per il nostro Signore Gesù Cristo...
PRIMA LETTURA (Ml 3,1-4)
who may abide the day of his coming? Who shall stand when he appears? He is like a refiner's fire and like the 'soap suds.
he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, because they can offer to the Lord in justice.
Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord as in days of old, as in years long past. "
Word of God
RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Ps 23)
Chorus: Come, Lord, in thy holy temple.
Alzate, or doors, your forehead,
rise, old thresholds,
and enter the King of glory.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and brave, brave in battle
the Lord.
Alzate, or doors, your face, get up
, thresholds ancient
and enter the King of glory.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts is the king of glory.
SECOND READING (Heb 2:14-18)
had become exactly like the brothers.
From Hebrews
Since the children share in flesh and blood, Christ also in the same way it has become a participant, to reduce that through death he who has the power of death, is the devil, and deliver them who, through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.
He did not take care of angels, but the seed of Abraham cares. So should become exactly like the brothers, to become a high priest, merciful and worthy of faith in the things of God, to expiate the sins of the people.
fact, just for having been tested and have suffered personally, he is capable of helping those who are tempted.
Word of God Gospel Acclamation (Luke 2,30.32)
Alleluia, alleluia.
My eyes have seen your salvation:
light to reveal the genti
e gloria del tuo popolo, Israele.
Alleluia.
VANGELO (Lc 2,22-40)
Simeone blessed them, and Mary, his mother said, "Behold, he is here for the fall and rising of many in Israel and as a sign of contradiction - and a sword will pierce your soul - so that thoughts may be revealed many hearts. "
there was a prophetess, Anna, daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. It was a great age, had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, she was then widowed and now she was eighty years old. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day with fasting and prayers. Coming up at that moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke of him to those looking for the redemption of Jerusalem. When
Ora in Jerusalem there was a man named Simeon, a just man and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. The Holy Spirit had foretold that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
Moved by the Spirit, he went to the temple, and while the parents brought the child Jesus to do what the law requires about him, he also received him in his arms and blessed God, saying
"Now you can leave, O Lord let thy servant depart in peace
, according to your word,
because my eyes have seen your salvation,
you have prepared in the presence of all peoples: a light for revelation to the Gentiles
e gloria del tuo popolo, Israele».

Comment
NOTE: When this feast is celebrated on Sunday, you proclaim the three readings given here, where the feast is celebrated this week, is chosen as one of the first reading before the Gospel, the Responsorial Psalm is the same.
The old man Simeon, received some of the promise, recognizes Jesus and the salvation of which Christ is the bearer and accepted the task of his life.
Even Anna, this prophetess who is advanced in years, but had spent most of his life in prayer and penance and confess Jesus knows about him to those who wait. Anna and Simeon, unlike many others, understand that that child is the Messiah because their eyes are pure, their faith is simple, because, living in prayer and in adherence to the will of the Father, have gained the ability to recognize wealth of new times.
Even before Simeon and Anna Mary's faith that allows God's love for us in the gift of turning
offered us in Christ Jesus, John Paul II in Redemptoris Mater "reminds us that" what looks like a second Simeon announcement to Mary, for they indicate the actual historical situation in which the Son is to accomplish its mission, namely, in misunderstanding and sorrow " (n. 16).
