Tra i problemi di questa traduzione citati dai detrattori, ci sono alcune nuove traduzioni a mio parere innocue, come «Il Signore sia con voi - E con il tuo spirito» invece di «E anche con te», altre, invece, più significative.
Il Credo, in particolare, ha ricevuto una rinfrescata: invece di iniziare con «Crediamo», i fedeli dovranno pronunciare un più corretto «Credo»; inoltre, dovranno dire di credere in un Figlio «consustanziale col Padre», invece che «di un solo essere [ one being ] col Padre».
Quest'ultimo punto mi pare interessante. I sacerdoti cattolici australiani Catholics believe that their country is further away from the Church if they have to say "consubstantial" instead of the less correct "one to be."
If the faithful know what it means to "consubstantial" and why is it important to use that word and not others to define their beliefs, they would have trouble pronouncing it. The fact that, instead, is a problem, is a symptom of their ignorance of the fundamentals of their religion.
To be Catholic, one must believe in a whole set of doctrines. But the vast majority of Catholics do not trouble to know them and their priests do not care all that much to catechize (already have problems to convince them to follow doctrines that are much more in the heart of the Pope, like the prohibition of condoms).
why a Catholic middle set before concepts such as transubstantiation, consubstantial and the like, could really frightened.
But if these are concepts that distinguish a Catholic, for example, a Protestant, you can define 'Catholic' without knowing them? And if they are not as important for your salvation after death, why people would kill for them?
