Beati i poveri davanti a Dio... Che messaggio! Lascia che Dio ti colmi! Egli ti ama malgrado la tua povertà, malgrado i tuoi limiti. Ancor più prezioso per contenuto, valore artistico e storico è il piccolo fondo manoscritto, totalmente cartaceo, ad eccezione di una pergamena settecentesca.
1. Il primo, e per bellezza e per antichità, è un ms. cartaceo miniato (42,2x28,5cm) di 10 ff. r-v (8r-10v non scritti), che deve ascriversi a un Rituale: più precisamente è un abrégé del rito De benedictione et consecratione virginum che si può riscontrare p. es. nel Pontificale Romanum (Romae 1645, pp. 159-190 ). Mediocre è lo stato di conservazione: tarli diffusi hanno aggredito la retrocoperta e ossidazioni del colore hanno creato parziali lacune e frammentazioni nella decorazione degli angoli inferiori destri a causa della frequente manipolazione.

Vi è allegato un codicetto ms. (40,5x29) che contiene solo il testo scritto precedente: anch’esso è racchiuso in a polychrome floral frame with Drop Caps in gold, now almost entirely lost, and shortly after the previous one.

A fatwa against violence anti-Christian in Iraq

Alcuni dei maggiori esponenti musulmani e cristiani iracheni si sono riuniti a Copenhagen per trovare una soluzione comune alle violenze contro le comunità cristiane del Paese. Alla tre giorni organizzata dalla Fondazione Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East (FRRME) was attended by representatives of the Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds, and Christians of saadristi.

After the meeting, the Muslims have given a fatwa against the violence against Christians. "The fatwa condemns all atrocities against Christians and stresses that these murderous acts are totally contrary to the Koran," said one of the participants.

Participants have produced thirteen recommendations, including calling on governments to "criminalize all incitement to sectarian violence and religious and propagation of culture of hatred" and urged the Iraqi government to bring the matter the agenda of the next meeting of the Arab League, to be held in March in Baghdad.

As you can see, the best way to address the conflicts between rival religions in the world is to work together to condemn violence from whatever side it comes. Retaliation and termination would not serve to improve the world in which we live.

Comment
The God who comes to meet us in the Bible does not reign, indifferent to human suffering in a distant blessed. It 's a God who, by contrast, takes to heart all this suffering. He knows it (Exodus 3:7). The news of God who became man in Jesus leaves no stone: God is in heart of our life will be touched by our human suffering, we are arises with our questions, it permeates our despair: "My God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Il Dio che viene ad incontrarci nella Bibbia non regna, indifferente alla sofferenza umana, in una lontananza beata. E' un Dio che, al contrario, si prende a cuore tutta questa sofferenza. Lui la conosce (Es 3,7). La notizia di Dio che si fa uomo in Gesù non ci lascia di sasso: Dio viene nel cuore della nostra vita, si lascia toccare dalla nostra sofferenza umana, si pone con noi le nostre domande, si compenetra della nostra disperazione: “Mio Dio, perché mi hai abbandonato?” (Mc 15,34). Giovanni Battista dice di Gesù: “Ecco l’Agnello di Dio, che toglie il peccato del mondo”. Compassion, anger and indifference: Jesus healing the leper and modern exegetes

I noticed that today's Gospel is an excerpt from Vangelo secondo Marco , precisamente l'episodio del lebbroso guarito da Gesù presente nel primo capitolo. Siccome si tratta di un problema di critica testuale ben noto e interessante e che stavo proprio pensando di scriverci un post, mi è sembrato che si trattasse di un segno inequivocabile!

Il brano è il seguente:
40 Allora venne a lui un lebbroso: lo supplicava in ginocchio e gli diceva: «Se vuoi, puoi guarirmi!».
41 Mosso a compassione, stese la mano, lo toccò e gli disse: «Lo voglio, guarisci!».
42 Subito la lebbra scomparve ed egli guarì.
43 E, ammonendolo severamente, lo rimandò e gli disse: 44 «Guarda di non dir niente a nessuno, but it should be ', to the priest, and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a testimony against them. "

Coincidentally I was flipping through the other day in the library TOB Bible in Italian, including the Bible in Italian is the only (to my memory) that make you notice a very interesting variation of verse 1.41. The translation

CEI, in fact, utilizza un testo greco in cui al versetto 41 sta scritto che Gesù stese la mano σπλαγχνισθεὶς, splagchnistheìs , «mosso da pietà o compassione». Il lebbroso supplica in ginocchio Gesù, dicendogli «Se vuoi, puoi guarirmi!» e Gesù lo guarisce perché è mosso a compassione dalla sua richiesta.

Vi sono però alcuni manoscritti antichi, tra cui il famoso Codex Bezae , confermati dalla testimonianza di un antico commentatore come Efrem il Siro , secondo la quale Gesù stese la mano ὀργισθεὶς, orgistheìs , it is not just a change, as if this was the correct reading, Jesus would heal the leper as "angry, furious'!

All Italian translations assume that the original text was "moved with compassion," but the majority (although not unanimous) view of textual critics that the original was rather "angry."


It is difficult to understand why an ancient scribe had to change splagchnistheis in orgistheis (in technical terms we say that orgistheis is the hardest lesson) mentre è facile capire il motivo per il quale un Gesù arrabbiato gli possa essere sembrato più incongruente di un Gesù mosso a compassione.

A favore di questa conclusione è anche la constatazione che nei passi paralleli di Matteo (8.3: «E Gesù stese la mano e lo toccò dicendo: "Lo voglio, sii sanato". E subito la sua lebbra scomparve.»)e Luca (5.13: «Gesù stese la mano e lo toccò dicendo: "Lo voglio, sii risanato!". E subito la lebbra scomparve da lui.») che riprendono il brano di Marco , le parole sono molto simili ma non viene detto se Gesù fosse stato arrabbiato o mosso da compassione: questo fatto è interpretato as a result of the presence of orgistheis in the original text of Mark that the authors of Matthew and Luke were considered inappropriate and therefore omitted.

Jesus healing the leper splagchnistheis , "moved with compassion," needs no comment: it is normal for a person who applies to his knees to be healed from a devastating illness, both physically as well as social, are the compassion of another human being. Quello che mi ha colpito è l'indifferenza di alcuni esegeti nei confronti della difficoltà a comprendere quale sia la versione giusta di questo versetto. Mi riferisco al fatto che nella TOB italiana viene spiegato come la lezione che Gesù fosse mosso a compassione sia da preferire a quella per la quale Gesù fosse arrabbiato, ma che comunque , anche se la lezione giusta fosse quest'ultima, Gesù sarebbe stato arrabbiato per le conventions of the time.
