From the Gospel according to Matthew (3:13-17)
At that time, Jesus was from Galilee to Jordan unto John to be baptized by him.
John tried to deter him, saying: "It's me that I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?". But Jesus answered him, "Leave it for now, why it makes sense that we fulfill all righteousness." So he let him do.
soon baptized, Jesus left the water: and lo, the heavens were opened for him and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him. And a voice from heaven saying, "This is my Son, the Beloved: in him I am well pleased."

Jesus asks John to baptize him, but does not need any of that baptism of repentance, because from the beginning, everything is realized and because it manifests the Holy Trinity that he came to reveal. John called the people to prepare for the imminent coming of the Messiah. He is allowed to contemplate what to aspire each person who prays and contemplates that John receives and accepts the mystery of God, that of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. John sees the Son, the eternal Word of God, and already indicates how the Savior. He hears the Father, that no one can see, witness and certify that this is really his Son (John 5.36-37). Then receives the presence of the Spirit that rests on the water surface, the mother of all life (Genesis 1:2). The Spirit came upon Mary, conceived in her life, human and divine (Luke 1:35). It is the Spirit upon the Apostles has come one day because fertilize the land and give eternal life (Acts 2:4). And although I had another baptism, otherwise effective (Mark 10:39), we too have been baptized in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit "(Matt. 28:19). And, according to the promise, the Holy Trinity and Divine puts us in his home (John 14:23). It transforms our lives, drawing us to God and entrusting him with the force of attraction of the resurrection.
