295-2 ^ Sunday after Christmas - January 2, 2011

Short form (Jn 1,1-5.9-14):
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

From Gospel according to John
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God and the Word was God

He was, in the beginning with God
all things were made through him and without him
nothing has been done of what exists.

In him was life and the life was the light of men

the light shines in the darkness and the darkness could not overpower.
Word was the true light that enlightens every man
.
was
world and the world was made through him;
the world did not recognize him. He came to his
,
and his people received him not.
But to those who received him
he gave power to become children of God:
who believed in his name, which
, not of blood nor of the will of

flesh nor of the will of man but of God
were generated.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt
in our midst;
and we beheld his glory, glory as of

only Son from the Father,
full of grace and truth.

The Incarnation of the Word is perfect and unsurpassable revelation of God's mystery is in the "History of the Word" (St. Bernard) that man can see God's glory e così la vita eterna è già donata all’uomo, mentre ancora vive nel tempo.
