The Meaning of Flag Tricolor

get from Tania Andreoli, and public

The significance of the three colors of our National Flag

Not everyone knows the story of our flag, and even the meaning of the three colors that compose it. According to an old poem written in the "subsidiary" of the elementary schools of the past, in Italy there would be a green flag to commemorate our lawns, the white for our perpetual snow, and red in tribute to the soldiers who have died troubled in so many wars. On this issue have made rhymes also renowned poets as Carducci, Giovanni Pascoli, Renzo Pezzani, Ada Negri .... Truly the green fields, white snow, and a red blood shed in tears of an entire nation for two hundred years is the allegorical transposition of our Tricolour?

It 'difficult to identify among the many people and how he invented such a legend. Romantic legend, but untrue. In the light of history it seems childish and pointless. It may be the theme of a nursery rhyme, but it is inconceivable that a peninsula split into many small states, with the Risorgimento had the strength to come together to celebrate meadows and snowfields.

This raises the suspicion that the unknown poet of this story wanted to hide a very different reality, and much more serious and dramatic. A truth hard to handle when today, thanks to search engines like Google, the real story home, is completely rewritten.

The Italian flag was born in 1794, when two students of Bologna, Giovanni Battista De Rolandis and Luigi Zamboni attempted an uprising against the absolutist power that ruled the city for almost 200 years. The two took the cockade as a badge of the revolution in Paris, but in order not to monkey with France, they changed the blue with green. The allegorical meaning has remained the same: a Tricolour as the goal of a people who sought to have Justice, Equality, Fraternity. Three goals without which there can be no Dignity, Democracy, Prosperity.

Our Tricolore summarizes the natural Rights of Man, "the aspirations of all people, the will of those who believe in their own country once progress, with adequate legislation, undivided, equal duties and privileges thereof. A country where there is no discrimination, but everyone does' a consciousness of their work responsibilities. Where morality and ethics are a constant guide to a happy and peaceful.

This is written on our flag, and this is what they dreamed those two students who have created and defended the point of sacrificing their lives in the twenty sinister despot absolutism of the perpetrators of power.

The chronology of the birth of the Tricolor is in a few dates: November 14, 1794 appears for the first time as a cockade bet on the clothes of the patriots riot in Bologna. On May 18, 1796 the colors of the rosette are accepted by Napoleon in Milan, and they delivered to the Civic Guard, the Lombard Legion and National Guard a flag vertically striped green white and red. (During this ceremony, Napoleon specifies that these three colors are from the rosette of the uprising in Bologna, in fact, reads: "Since they (the two students) have chosen these three colors, so they are." On October 9, 1796 (18 Vendemiaire Year V) The adoption of the Italian legion Legion Lombard receives from Bonaparte with a tricolor cockade of the same composition as the Zamboni and De Rolandis. On 18 October the same year (27 Vendemiaire) The Senate met in Bologna and Modena decrees that created a flag with vertical stripes with these three colors, symbolizing the new Republic Cispadana, the first stage of a new Italian Republic. On January 7, 1797 in Reggio Emilia, the defendants are seated right of the new standard and undertake that it will become universal.
